The future of Rio de Janeiro's development

In this thematic edition, we invite academics, researchers, and public managers to submit articles exploring the theme "The Future of Rio de Janeiro's Development."

Articles that discuss the leading role of industry and industrial services in the economic development process of Rio de Janeiro state, and particularly the city of Rio de Janeiro, will be accepted. This theme encompasses reflections on industrial policy and its challenges, new production technologies, identification of potentialities and opportunities, promotion of an innovation-friendly environment, (re)spatialization of Rio de Janeiro's economic activities in contemporary times, workforce qualification, and related topics.

Possible themes include, but are not limited to:

  1. Development and industrial policy;
  2. Reindustrialization through innovation and new technologies;
  3. Anchoring links of global production chains/networks in the territory;
  4. Analysis of industrial subsectors;
  5. Contemporary economic geography of Rio de Janeiro;
  6. History of industry in Rio de Janeiro city and state.
