Abstract
The Pereira Passos Institute has been monitoring the situation of favelas in Rio de Janeiro for more than twenty years. In 1982, the then IPLANRIO implemented the first favela registry, which, through the gradual introduction of improvements and new technological resources, evolved into the Low-Income Settlements System (SABREN*), available on the network for the entire City Hall.
