The Coleção Estudos Cariocas - Carioca Studies Collection (ISSN 1984-7203) is a publication dedicated to studies and research on the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, affiliated with the Pereira Passos Institute (IPP) under the Municipal Secretariat of the Civil House of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall. Since 2001, it has published reflections on the city of Rio de Janeiro and its regional interactions, characterized by a wide thematic range of studies aligned with the spatial focus on Rio de Janeiro.
In recent years, the journal had an irregular publication frequency. With the migration to the professional publishing platform OJS and the restructuring of the Editorial Board, all articles since 2001 have been indexed and republished with DOIs. Starting in 2025, the publication frequency has been set to two regular issues per year, in a continuous flow, plus two special issues with specific themes.
Articles must be unpublished and may include innovative applications, case studies, and methodological proposals. Articles can be submitted in Portuguese, English, or Spanish, and bilingual or trilingual publication is encouraged after editing, provided the author validates the translations.
The double-blind peer review process takes up to one month, with the full editorial flow — from submission to publication — lasting a maximum of two months and two weeks (in cases of positive recommendations without revisions), thus ensuring a swift and responsible editorial process.
